Welcome to Sparks of Alchemy
Well, hello there! I’m Gemma Munro, and this is Sparks of Alchemy. It’s a place to find gentle but well-aimed nudges towards courage, change, connection, clarity and the creation of your impossible dreams. It’s a space for us to play, to learn and to reflect. You’ll find a combination of insights that get you moving when you’re stuck, and reminders that get you resting when you’re tired.
I created Sparks of Alchemy in the hope that it becomes somewhere you can turn to when you’re feeling overwhelmed or underwhelmed. I hope it provides a safe, warm hearth from which you can start to make the changes you want to make so that your life feels more and more like magic.
This is me
My professional bio goes something like this:
Dr Gemma Munro is an uplifting and award-winning speaker, facilitator and writer, with a PhD in performance psychology and a knack of sparking rapid and easeful change. Known as the Alchemist at Work, Gemma specialises in the science and art of courage, transformation and the creation of impossible dreams.
Gemma has ignited change in workplaces across the planet, and inspired over 72,000 people worldwide. She has spoken to global and national audiences at Google, Amazon, Qantas, Vodafone, PayPal and the NHS in London, and her keynote at Google headquarters in Silicon Valley was live-streamed to every Google office on the planet. She is a winner of the Duncan Trust Prize for speaking and a two-time Telstra Businesswoman of the Year finalist. As a classically trained singer, Gemma has performed in Westminster Abbey, Radio City Music Hall and, somewhat heart-stoppingly, to 53,000 screaming fans as a backing vocalist for the Rolling Stones.
What my bio doesn’t reveal is that I’m more woo than your average bear. I spent the first half of my life chasing a masculine, society-led version of success, and I achieved some measure of it. But with it came burn-outs, fatigue and eventually a mother-fudger of a spiritual awakening that swept me up by the ankles and left me dangling in the air. Everything I’d felt a degree of certainty around was flung out of my pockets, including my marriage, my home and the global business I’d birthed in my bedroom when my children were babies.
It was a gnarly few years that heralded multiple and dramatic life pivots. My hurried, harried world was gradually replaced with one steeped in love, flow, peace and deep, other-worldly connection to the divine.
Somehow, with stumbles and scrapes along the way, I’ve found a way of living where work feels like play, life is in flow and I feel lit up from within. Where courage, clarity, connection and magic are part and parcel of daily life. Where abundance and success are no longer synonymous with overwhelm and exhaustion.
It’s bloody lovely. And, here in Sparks of Alchemy, I’m wholly dedicated to helping you forge what I’m calling a wild new way of working. The belts strapped around our waist, Batwoman-style, will be furnished with the vital tools of courage, change, clarity and connection (to others, ourselves and the universe). They’ll help us create our impossible dreams.
